The People
SymPul Studio is run by Derek Pulliam and Dustin Symes. They are two family men who have several years of combined experience in the local Alberta music industry. Naomi Pulliam is the business manager and handles the books.
Derek Pulliam is a talented free lance musician who has played and worked hard at home and on the road. Pully has over 20 years experience as a live musician and audio engineer. He has ongoing work with Nero Productions, Tubeman Productions, and plays with Tim Buckley, Bryan Bayley and the Circus, Paul Jensen, The Dim Witted Heroes, and Steven James Larsen. Derek's musical abilities as a session player can also be heard on as many as 15 recording projects on instruments such as the stand-up bass and guitar.
Dustin Symes has had several years of experience in live audio production and as a recording engineer. His training consists of many countless hours of self-teaching and critical listening as well as being a part of the recording program at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills. Currently his life is filled with finishing an electrical apprenticeship, enjoying time with his young family, and playing music in Olds, AB.
The Spaces
We do our work in two spaces, one focused more on tracking and obtaining a quality sound and one for editing and making those sounds better.

In Calgary, AB Derek Pulliam operates our main studio space. Just newly renovated in 2009, it has a performance room, coffee bar, bathroom, and a well equipped control room. This studio is ready for tracking, composition, producing, or final mix down. In the control room is a Pro Tools LE workstation with computing power coming from a Mac Pro and SSL Duende processing. In Olds, AB we have a small mixing/edit space for small projects and intermediate work that only requires a smaller setup. It is a Pro Tools LE workstation on a Macbook Pro laptop. Dustin runs and maintains this space.
